Aaronwell Rough Collies                                           John & Marg. Congdon

The affix we have originated from our love of Elvis Presley and the wonderful songs he sang.Aaron being his middle name and the well,well why not!
Zelah was our first rough collie and was born 13/5/1972 and she came to live with us at 7weeks of age,not like the collies shown today but she was our pride and joy and went everywhere with us.If we were going to a restaurant and couldn't park the car in order to see here we would move to another place until Zelah was in view,this is how rough collies get into your hearts and lives without trying to hard.Zelah had one litter born in 1977 all 8 were sable and white and were so special to Margaret and i,unfortunately we lost a bitch.From this litter we kept two strong,sturdy males Antoc and Kane and this started the showing bug we still have today.It was not until 1979 that we applied for an affix and were granted our last choice AARONWELL.
Aaronwell Argy Bargy became the first male and also the youngest rough collie in Devon and Cornwall to gain a Junior Warrant.A few of our other
fond memories are of Pelido Momma Cass at Aaronwell,Jasida's Love story at Aaronwell and Lanteague Golden Harvest who is the sire of many champions in the UK.Although owned and shown by me never did carry Aaronwell at the end of his name.Pride of place goes to 'whisper'alias CHAMPION Criscoll Crystal Dark at Aaronwell our beautiful tri coloured bitch who excelled in head,coat and personality.We were delighted when a sable male bred by us,Connor,was to become CHAMPION Aaronwell Antique Gold at Brilyn and is also proving himself as an influential sire in the UK and abroad.
Males admired by us in the past are CH.ABERTHORNE ARRESTER,CH.MYBERNS MINSTREL AND CH.BRILYN SUPERTRAMP,the later has been very instrumental in the line we strive for today.
I now have had the pleasure to judge many lovely rough collies that i had admired from the ring side and i feel privileged that i have had the opportunity to do this at championship show level
Although our home is not in a favourable position geographically,we travel extensively to shows held all over England,Wales,Scotland and Northern Ireland in order to exhibit and meet up with friends who share the same interest for our wonderful breed,The Rough Collie.
